72 <br /> DURHAM COUNTY <br /> ADMINISTRATION II BUILDING RENOVATION <br /> oil <br /> CLIENT REFERENCE a,+ NO <br /> Peri Manns, ASLA <br /> Deputy Director, E&ES <br /> Durham County � . <br /> (919) 560-7996 <br /> pmanns@dconc.gov <br /> Reopened in late 2018 as Durham County Administration Building II,this former, <br /> COMPLETION 1970s-era judicial building was extensively renovated, inside and out, and provides <br /> 2018 modern office, meeting and amenity spaces in line with current workplace strategies. <br /> It achieved LEED° Silver certification. <br /> CONSTRUCTION COST <br /> $38 million The design team engaged with 17 separate county departments and stakeholders <br /> SIZE during the pre-design phase, knowing from the onset not all groups would be a <br /> 168,000 sf part of the final project. The pre-design process determined the functional needs <br /> of each group and priorities of Durham County. Working with multiple parties,the <br /> SUSTAINABILITY 9 departments and 5 additional program components in the building represent <br /> LEED° Silver the departments most suitable to address the long-term needs of the County. <br /> Recommendations for the remaining departments were also provided. <br /> PROJECT TEAM <br /> Kevin G. Montgomery Design objectives also included improving the pedestrian and urban scale of the <br /> Josh Brady building, activating the first-floor level with retail and community meeting spaces to <br /> Jay Smith enliven East Main Street, activating the Plaza Level with landscape and hardscape <br /> Jorge Gomez improvements, accounting for future growth, creating a sustainable building, and <br /> extending the life of the existing structure. 128 <br />
