1 <br /> APPROVED 1116/25 <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> JOINT MEETING WITH THE <br /> ORANGE COUNTY FIRE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION <br /> AND BOCC WORK SESSION <br /> October 14, 2025 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Joint Meeting with the Orange County <br /> Fire Chiefs' Association, followed by a BOCC Work Session on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at <br /> 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice-Chair Jean Hamilton, <br /> and Commissioners Marilyn Carter, Amy Fowler, Sally Greene, Earl McKee, and Phyllis Portie- <br /> Ascott <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: NONE <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Travis Myren, Deputy County Manager Caitlin <br /> Fenhagen, Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen, Emergency Services Director Kirby Saunders, <br /> and Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety Stephen Smith (All other staff members will be <br /> identified appropriately below) <br /> ORANGE COUNTY CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chief Matthew Mauzy, <br /> Chief Kevin Brooks, Chief Jeff Cabe, Sam Smith (representing Chief Daylon Hayes), Chief <br /> William Blankenship, Chief Ricky Baker, Brandon Mullen (representing Chief Jeff Borland), <br /> Chief Brad Allison, Chris Wade (representing Chief Phillip Nasseri), Chief Will Potter, Chief Jay <br /> Mebane, Chief John Wellons, Interim Chief Matt Ingold <br /> Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> The Commissioners, Fire Chiefs, and staff introduced themselves. <br /> Before proceeding with the agenda, Commissioner Carter read a recognition into the <br /> record for Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th through October 15th. The <br /> theme for this year is "Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future." She <br /> announced that Orange County Schools will be hosting a celebration the following evening from <br /> 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Orange High School in Hillsborough, featuring student dancing, music <br /> performances, art, and poetry readings. <br /> 1.
