Opioid Advisory Committee —Appointments Discussion <br /> 2 The Board discussed appointments to the Opioid Advisory Committee. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 BACKGROUND: The Opioid Advisory Committee is charged with discussing opioid-related <br /> 5 health concerns and issues impacting the residents of Orange County and advising the Board of <br /> 6 Commissioners on options to expend funds to remedy opioid impacts. She reported recommendations from the Opioid Advisory <br /> 21 Committee's meeting the previous evening. <br /> 22 The Board discussed the Committee's recommendations. <br /> 23 Commissioner Carter and Commissioner Portie-Ascott expressed interest in delaying <br /> 24 moving Elisabeth Johnson until the County Attorney could provide an opinion about a potential <br /> 25 conflict of interest regarding Freedom Housing (her employer) receiving opioid grant funds. <br /> 26 Chair Bedford asked Deputy County Manager Cait Fenhagen to share a bit about the work <br /> 27 of this Committee. <br /> 28 Cait Fenhagen explained the committee's role in making recommendations for funding <br /> 29 allocations, creating and reviewing applications, meeting monthly, and holding annual meetings. <br /> 30 The Board agreed by consensus to proceed with the following recommendations from the <br /> 31 Opioid Advisory Committee: <br /> 32 • Move Elizabeth Johnson from at-large to the substance use treatment provider position <br /> 33 • Appoint Richard Cooper (new applicant) to the open at-large position <br /> 34 .
