36
1 Matt Efird said the Falls Lake rules are the biggest threat to the continued growth of
2 Hillsborough, explaining that the town will hit the limits in those rules faster than any others, and
3 that horizon is not much longer than five years.
4
5 Slide #23
Water Supply
• WFER
w w! 1A 41.12. He reiterated that the town has a very comfortable supply of raw water that amounts
13 to almost two years' worth. Additionally, the town has an allocation out of Jordan Lake, and can
14 access it through the City of Durham interconnection, which would bring even more water into the
15 town's system.
16 Commissioner Carter asked if Hillsborough depends on Lake Orange for an emergency
17 water supply.
18 Bryant Green said the town relies on Lake Orange, but has a run-of-the-river supply vs. a
19 direct connection that other municipalities may have. He explained that Lake Orange and West
20 Fork discharge into the Eno River, and the town then pulls its water out of the river.
21 Cy Stober described the locations of the intakes and told the Board that there is a relevant
22 text amendment about reservoir setbacks coming forward soon.
23
24
