Johnson <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clerk's Office, ext. 2130, 2125, 2126, 2129 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 245-2130 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider making one appointment to the Agricultural Preservation Board (Ag. <br />Board) to the Bacon-Johnson Voluntary Agricultural (VA) District. <br />BACKGROUND: The Agricultural Preservation Board shall consist of up to seven (7) At-Large <br />members plus one member for each District created and existing under this Ordinance, all <br />appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Four new VA Districts have been approved in the past couple of years, with the total now at <br />nine (9). Not all the owners of farms designated as a VA District or in a VA District have applied <br />or wish to serve on the Ag. Board. See explanatory notes on the chart following. <br />Donald N. Johnson, the owner of the farm comprising the Bacon-Johnson VA District, has <br />applied for a seat on the Ag. Board. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider appointing Donald N. Johnson to the Bacon-Johnson Farm <br />VA District, for a term in accordance with Section IV.B.2 of the Orange County Voluntary <br />Farmland Preservation Program Ordinance. <br />
