1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: November 6, 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-f <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of Equipment and Vehicles for Solid Waste Management <br /> DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste Management <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Quotes from Gregory Poole Equipment Robert Williams, 919-918-4904 <br /> Company and Capital Ford <br /> PURPOSE: To approve and authorize Orange County Solid Waste to purchase: <br /> 1) Three (3) pieces of equipment: <br /> • Cat 910 Compact Wheel Loader <br /> • Cat 317GC Hydraulic Excavator <br /> • Cat 926 Small Wheel Loader; and <br /> 2) Two (2) vehicles <br /> • 2026 Ford F250 4X4 Pickup; and <br /> • 2026 Ford F250 Super cab XL Pickup. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department is proposing to <br /> replace three (3) pieces of equipment which have surpassed their useful life and increased <br /> maintenance costs are substantial. Solid Waste Management is also proposing to replace two <br /> (2) vehicles with an average age of 15 years. The current vehicles have surpassed their useful <br /> life and caused substantial increases in maintenance costs. <br /> The three (3) pieces of equipment and two (2) vehicles support the provision of Landfill and <br /> Sanitation operations, performing other duties as needed for the Solid Waste Management <br /> Department, and for the transport of employees in the course of performing daily operational <br /> duties at the Landfill facility. <br /> Orange County Solid Waste Management seeks to purchase these vehicles to provide safe, <br /> efficient, cost-effective service to the residents of Orange County, and purchasing these vehicles <br /> will save the County on fuel and maintenance. The funding for purchasing this equipment and <br /> vehicles was approved in the FY 2025-26 Capital Investment Plan budget process. <br /> The purchase prices for all five (5) items are set through North Carolina Statewide Contract. The <br /> three (3) pieces of equipment will be purchased from Gregory Poole Equipment Company, and <br /> the two (2) vehicles will be purchased from Capital Ford Dealership. <br />
