Senior Citizen Health TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Promotion Program Grant Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Project Ordinance Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To approve budget ordinance and grant project ordinance amendments for fiscal year <br />2002-03. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Department of Social Services <br />The Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of additional Crisis <br />Intervention funds totaling $65,798 to be used for crisis related living needs (such as utility bill <br />assistance) by citizens who are "medically at risk". These additional funds bring the current <br />budget for this program to $199,015 for FY 2002-03. This budget amendment provides for the <br />receipt of these State funds. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />2. The Department of Social Services has also received notification from the State of additional <br />Energy Administration funds totaling $8,570 to be used to offset the costs of staff administering <br />the Crisis Intervention Program. These additional funds bring the current budget for this program <br />to $28,488 for FY 2002-03. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these State <br />funds. (See Attachment 1, column #2). <br />Department on Aging <br />3. The Department on Aging has received grant funds in the amount of $5,000 from Strowd Roses, <br />Inc. to help underwrite the costs of its Fit Feet Foot Health Care Clinic. This Wellness Program <br />was established in 2001 with start-up funds from the Triangle Community Foundation and <br />enables the Department to continue foot care programs for seniors at the Central Orange, <br />Chapel Hill, and Northside Senior Centers. No additional County funds are required for the <br />receipt of these funds. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant funds. <br />(See Attachment 2, Senior Citizen Health Promotion Program Grant Project Ordinance). <br />
