Additions and/or improvements to post-FIRM structures whereas the addition and/or <br />improvements in combination with any interior modifications to the existing structure <br />m•e: <br />i. Not a substantial improvement, the addition and/or improvements only must comply <br />with the standards for new construction; and, <br />ii. A substantial improvement, both the existing structure and the addition and/or <br />improvements must comply with the standards for new construction. <br />(5) d Whez°e a frre wall or independent perimeter load-bearing wall is provided beh~~een the <br />addition and the existing building, the nddition(s) shall be considered n separate building <br />and only the addition need comply with the standards, for new construction. <br />(Ord. of 8-28-1995, § 5,2, eff. 8-28-1995) <br />Sec 42-93. Specific Standards for floodplains without established base flow elevations <br />(Approximate Zone A). <br />Within the SFHAs established in Section 42-37 are where no base flood data has been <br />provided the following provisions shall apply: <br />L No encz°oachments, including ,fill, new construction, substantial improvements or new <br />development shall be permitted within a distance of fifty (.50) feet each ,side from top of bank <br />or five times the width of the sh°eam whichever is greater, unless certifrcation with <br />(5) szzpporting technical data by a Noz•th Cmrolina licensed Professional Engineer is provided <br />demonstrating that szzch encroachments shall not result in any inerense in Mood levels dzn•ing <br />the occurrence of the bnse flood discharge. <br />2. If Section 42-94(1) is satisfied and BFE data is available from other sources, all new <br />construction and substantial improvements within such areas shall also comply with all <br />applicable provisions of this Ordinance and shall be elevated or flood proofed according to <br />elevations established according to Section 42-37. <br />3, All subdivisions, manufactured home parks, and other development proposals located within <br />SFHAs shall provide BFE data, Such BFE data shall be adopted by reference per Section 3.2 <br />to be utilized in implementing this Ordinance, <br />4. When BFE data are not available from a Federal, State, or other source, the reference level, <br />including basement, shall be elevated at least two (2') feet above the highest adjacent grade. <br />(Ord. of 8-28-1995, § 5,.3, eff. 8-28-1995) <br />Sec. 42-94. Subdivisions, manufactured home parks, and major developments. <br />All subdivisions, manufactured home pm°ks, and mnjor developnzezzt proposals located within <br />SFHAs shall: <br />1.
