He presented the district's primary project for the bond: replacement of Carrboro <br /> Elementary School as an on-site replacement, with students remaining in the existing building <br /> during construction. He said the district is targeting a fall 2028 completion, but has flexibility to <br /> extend to fall 2029 depending on planning requirements. He said upcoming major milestones <br /> include October board consideration of project management services (based on lessons learned <br /> from Chapel Hill High School), meetings with the Town of Carrboro about development review <br /> and potential shared-use facilities, a November award of an architectural RFQ, and a January <br /> award of a construction manager at risk contract. He emphasized getting contractors and <br /> designers working together from the beginning rather than at the end. <br /> 3. Demographic Trends and Impact on School Enrollment <br /> a.
