I don t have any other official organizational memberships but I <br /> have a background in city planning and environmental sustainability and management and <br /> feel passionately about providing and preserving public natural space and playgrounds for <br /> our kids. My children and I participate in a lot of planned community events in <br /> Hillsborough and Orange County and I d love to find a way to have a voice in the process. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> None <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Parks and Recreation Council <br /> Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board <br /> I have a undergraduate degree in human geography, which focused on how people interact <br /> with their spaces, with a minor in city planning. I have always had an interest in parks and <br /> recreation planning and working to create a community that serves its residents and provides <br /> open, safe, and useful places for people to interact. I have a master's degree in environmental <br /> management and sustainability so I am very focused on trying to maintain green spaces that <br /> help reduce urban heat island effects while also providing ways for children to learn and engage <br /> in nature - so that hopefully they one day can be passionate about preserving natural spaces as <br /> well! <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I am a mom of two young children (ages 1 and 4)who use Orange County community parks <br /> and Hillsborough town parks daily. My children love to be outside and explore and I want to <br /> ensure that they have the ability to do so in these parks and natural spaces. I also would love to <br /> contribute to ideas on how to plan community events that provide interesting and safe activities <br /> for all community members to engage in at low or no cost to them. I would love to volunteer and <br /> serve to help shape the community resources I use daily at no cost. <br />
