15
Community recreation, especially through paths and trails, is an important resource both for this
community and for the County as a whole. The 2014 Orange County Parks and Recreation Master
Plan identified 8 recommendations for the County, including building more trails and improving
open space access to promote healthy lifestyles. These recommendations were generated from
community input and from emerging research in the fields of economic and public health.
Community outreach conducted as part of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process found
that residents are eager for more opportunities to walk, hike, and bike in nature. Rigsbee's trail
network will provide ample opportunities for residents to engage in healthy recreation while
promoting community cohesion. The trail network at the Rigsbee Community will be designed to
embrace the site's natural topography and showcase its most beautiful natural features.Trails will
be constructed with ADA-compliant porous materials, ensuring minimal impact on nearby streams
and allowing access for all ages and abilities.
We are committed to contributing to the goals of the Orange County Comprehensive Plan. The plan
highlights the challenge of preserving the county's rural character and cooperative community
values, while also growing to meet economic and housing needs. Rigsbee will provide new homes
to meet growing demand, in a thoughtfully designed community that preserves open space and
encourages respect for the land and its history.
In conclusion, Rigsbee is not simply another residential development, but a community carefully
designed for residents to live in harmony with their natural surroundings. Through green stormwater
design and low-impact accessible trails, the community's sustainable features will promote
respect and love for the native ecosystem.Through planting native trees, shrubs, and perennials,
the project will ultimately enhance the biodiversity of the landscape. And through meaningful open
spaces, residents will explore their natural surroundings and find a sense of community belonging.
Our goal is to create a place where families will truly enjoy the beauty of their surroundings.
