418 <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />November 1, 1965 <br />T139 Grange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, <br />November 1, 1965, at ten o'clock a.m, in the Commissioners' Room at the courthouse <br />in Hillsborough, N. C. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners William C. Ray, <br />Carl M. Smith and Henry S. Walker. <br />Members absent: Commissioner Gordon B. Mr. Johnson stated that this <br />road accommadated fifteen families, was a school bus route and mail route. The <br />Clerk was instructed to advise C. I. Walters, Maintence Supervisor, State Highway <br />Commission at Hillsborough, N. C. of the condition of these secondary roads, and <br />to request that he investigate the situation. <br />The following road petitions were submitted and the Clerk was requested to <br />forward same to the State Highway Commission at Greensboro, N. C. <br />1. Ruffin Avenue <br />2. Secondary Road #1551 <br />Chairman Bennett read a letter from property owners living on an unnamed street <br />in the West Hillsborough axee. Said letter requested that the unnamed street which <br />is located just west of Margaret Street be named Indian Trial. Discussion ensued. <br />The Board requested the County. Administrator to inspect the unnamed street and to <br />talk with the property owners to see if they would approve of naming the street <br />Margaret Street Extension instead of Indian Trail. <br />Mrs. H. F. Boone of 307 South Greensboro Street, Cerrboro, N. C., requested <br />the Board to review and reduce the tax appraisal on her home. Mrs. Boone was <br />advised by Chairman Bennett that her request would be considered at the time when <br />the Bcard of Commissioners would sit as a Board of Equalization and Review but that <br />at this time the Board of Commissioners did not have the authority to make any <br />adjustments on tax appraisals. <br />Gary Sykes of Route 2, Hillsborough, N. C., informed the Board that he had <br />knowledge of the location of 1200 to 1500 acres of land near Hillsborough which, <br />in his opinion, could be purchased and used as a water shed area. He wanted to know <br />if the Board was interested in his making further investigations into the matter of <br />purchase. Peck, Town <br />Manager of Chapel Hill, N. C., and a petition signed by John Alexander McMahon and <br />E. G. Merritt, Commissioners of the Greater Chapel Hill Fire Protection District <br />Commission. The letter and the petition requested the addition to the Greater Chapel <br />Hill Fire District Commission the area in the Orange Church Community and designated <br />in said petition as Tax Map #24 parcels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Walker, and unanimous- <br />ly adopted, it was moved that the petition requesting addition to the Greater Chapel <br />Hill Fire District received from the property owners in the Orange Church area and <br />adpepsig <br />natted in said petition as Tex Map #24 parcels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 41 be <br />oved. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ray, and unanimously <br />adopted, it was moved that Earl E.
