Describe how the agency incorporates racial equity into its goals. (150 word limit) <br />One of the goals of OCHM is to “Be Inclusive: Tell full stories that highlight the <br />rich diversity of the county geographically, ethically, and culturally.” As the only <br />dedicated history museum in Orange County, it is our responsibility to present <br />content that is representative of all of Orange County’s residents. To do so, <br />OCHM staff works with various members of the community and community <br />groups to determine what content should be presented and how to promote <br />shared authority in the museum. <br />Describe how the intended beneficiaries of the proposed project(s) were involved in the planning and design <br />process. (150 word limit) <br />Decisions regarding the selection of exhibit topics and content are made in <br />consultation with civic groups, elected officials, public and homeschool <br />educators, local families, and organizations representing minority groups, such <br />as the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation Tribal Council and Free Spirit <br />Freedom. Continuous feedback is solicited from guests after viewing the <br />exhibits and/or participating in programs.
