1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: September 16, 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-f <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of Vehicles for the Emergency Services Department <br /> DEPARTMENT: Fleet Services <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Quotes Robert Williams, 919-918-4904 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve and authorize Orange County Fleet Services to purchase two (2) Ford <br /> Super Duty F350 trucks to replace two (2) older vehicles in the Emergency Services Department. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange County's Emergency Services Department proposes replacing two (2) <br /> vehicles that have surpassed their useful life and caused substantial increases in maintenance <br /> costs. These vehicles are critical to maintaining public safety and ensuring timely response to <br /> emergencies. As approved in the FY 2025-26 Capital Investment Plan (CIP), the vehicles to be <br /> purchased will replace vehicles that have been in service since 2006 (19 years). <br /> Replacing vehicles is essential to ensure that emergency personnel have dependable equipment <br /> to protect the community and fulfill the department's mission effectively. The proposed purchase <br /> would occur through the Statewide Term Contract 2510A-Fleet Vehicles, established by the North <br /> Carolina Department of Administration, which qualifies as an exemption to the competitive bidding <br /> requirements. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total financial impact with purchase of the two (2)vehicles is $135,350. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 1: ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CLIMATE ACTION <br /> OBJECTIVE 2. Invest in our infrastructure to reduce the environmental impact of the <br /> County fleet/facilities and improve safety. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize Fleet <br /> Services to purchase two (2) Ford Super Duty F350 vehicles to replace two (2) older vehicles in <br /> the Emergency Services Department. <br />
