I am a member of the American Pastured Poultry Producers Association <br /> which is a nation wide community of pastured poultry producers who help one another <br /> grow and problem solve with the intention of having more pastured poultry available in the <br /> marketplace. I have been a member of the Carrboro Farmers Market since 2015. 1 am a <br /> member of Carolina Farm Stewardship Association and regularly speak at their annual <br /> conference. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Agricultural Preservation Board <br /> Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board <br /> I have been a farmer in Orange County since 2013 and have been full time on the farm since <br /> 2017. On my farm I raise pasture raised meat for sale direct to consumer as well as wholesale <br /> to restaurants and food hubs in the greater Triangle region. In this role I have come to know the <br /> state of the rural community, our strengths and weaknesses as well as personally built <br /> relationships with many of the counties farmers. I can use this experience and the many <br /> relationships towards benefitting the community in my capacity on this board. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I strongly believe in the agricultural capacity of a community and for the lands well being and I <br /> want to serve my community by protecting the wealth of resources that our county has. In the <br /> 12 years that I have lived in Orange County I have gotten to know the community and seen <br /> what our strengths and weaknesses are. I want to use my experience and perspective towards <br /> steering OC in a direction that maintains our rural integrity while also integrating with the <br /> booming economy and population of the greater region. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br />
