River Basin Buffer Rules <br /> Streamside riparian zones within the PSA are protected under provisions of the Jordan <br /> Lake Riparian Buffer Rules, administered by NCDWR. Per the Jordan Lake Riparian <br /> Buffer Rules, streams depicted on the most recent published manuscript of the Orange <br /> County Soil Survey (prepared by the Natural Resource Conservation Service [NRCS], of <br /> the United States Department of Agriculture [USDA]), or the United States Geologic <br /> Survey's (USGS) National Map shall require a total of 50 perpendicular feet of riparian <br /> buffer from the stream top-of-bank. This 50'riparian buffer has two zones. Zone 1 consists <br /> of the first 30 undisturbed perpendicular feet from the stream top-of-bank. Zone 2 consists <br /> of the outer 20 perpendicular feet, starting from the outer edge of Zone 1. Limited <br /> disturbance is allowed in Zone 2. Specific disturbance activities and uses which are <br /> allowed in Zone 2 can be found in Items (9) and(11) of the Jordan Lake Buffer Rules. <br /> In addition to the 50' buffer requirements of the Jordan Lake riparian buffer rules, the <br /> Orange County Unified Development Ordinance(UDO)requires additional buffers,which <br /> 14 December 2024 <br />
