50
Kimley> Horn Carolina Friends School— Orange County, NC
Recommended Improvements:
The following improvements are recommended for the projected (2026) build-out traffic
condition based on the capacity analysis presented herein:
Mt. Sinai Road at Upper School Driveway:
• Construct the north leg as a full movement stop-controlled driveway with one
ingress lane and one egress lane
Conclusions
Currently, Carolina Friends School is served by one driveway on Friends School Road.
The analysis indicates that some congestion is experienced on the site driveway in the
AM peak hour resulting in the need for a traffic control officer for a short period in the
morning. By constructing a new driveway on Mt. Sinai Road and moving the Upper
School to this location, traffic operations will improve at the existing school driveway.
The analyses indicate that with the recommended improvements in place, the study
intersections are expected to operate at acceptable levels-of-service in all peak hours.
Therefore, no additional improvements are recommended, and the existing traffic control
officer may no longer be needed at the existing school driveway.
ES-3
