21 <br /> Carolina Friends School Biological Inventory Report Orange County, N.C. <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Three Oaks Engineering,Inc. (Three Oaks)was contracted by W/Architecture to complete <br /> natural resource investigations on Parcel PIN No.'s 9892310306, 9892202052, and <br /> 9892227326 in Chapel Hill, Orange County,North Carolina(Figures 1 and 2). The Project <br /> Study Area(PSA) is approximately 109.5 acres and is located off Carolina Friends School <br /> and Mt. Sinai Roads. The Carolina Friends School intends to expand facilities within the <br /> PSA. As part of the Orange County Planning Department's review process, an <br /> Environmental Assessment (EA) application and Biological Inventory Report (BIR) were <br /> requested. The following BIR has been prepared to meet the County's request. <br /> 2.0 METHODOLOGY <br /> Three Oaks staff members Nathan Howell(PWS,M.S.)and Mark Guerard completed field <br /> work within the PSA on September 20,2024. Soil and Environmental Consultants(S&EC) <br /> completed jurisdictional waters delineations within the property on the same date. Water <br /> resources identified within the PSA have not yet been verified by the United States Army <br /> Corps of Engineers (USACE) or the North Carolina Division of Water Resources <br /> (NCDWR). It is expected that these resources will be covered by USACE under a <br /> Preliminary Jurisdictional Determination (PJD) Package. A list of the principal personnel <br /> contributing to the Three Oaks field work and document are provided in the Appendix. <br /> 3.0 TERRESTRIAL COMMUNITIES <br /> Six terrestrial communities were identified within the PSA. Figure 3 shows the location <br /> and extent of these terrestrial communities. Terrestrial community data are presented in the <br /> context of total coverage of each type within the PSA (Table 1). <br /> Table 1.
