Clarification was offered by Nelson Nygaard and N.Trivedi as the Transit Plan <br /> 49 is more for public viewing while the Appendixes are for County Planning purposes. G.Woloszczuk and A. <br /> 50 Menius brought up issues with the regional transit hub as they might not be shown currently in the best <br /> 51 areas to serve the county. There was discussion regarding the 420 route and Hill to Hill as it had been <br /> 52 presented to remove stops and changes the routes, so they were aligned. <br /> 53 Motion:Joshua Mayo,with: <br /> 54 Upgrade Orange HS to a medium-term with walking access project <br /> 55 Updated rural transit hubs map to include full county and clarified that MOD is available countywide <br /> 56 Added/Changed language for the Hill to Hill to include weekend, evening, and matching alignments <br /> 57 and continued conversations with GoTriangle. <br /> 58 Emphasis hiring marking services for the transit information campaign as budget allows <br /> 59 Added a highlight of the Climate Action Plan into the SRTP, in the Project Goals section <br /> 60 Second: Natalie Ziemba <br /> 61 Unanimously Approved <br /> 62 <br /> 63 b. 2024 Safe Routes to School Plan <br /> 64 N.Trivedi provided an update on the plan.Town of Hillsborough has requested a few changes by adding <br /> 65 3 schools—Central Elementary, River Park Elementary and HilLsborough Elementary. Recommendations <br /> 66 to these schools would have to be discussed/agreed upon with the Town of Hillsborough. S. Appel <br /> 67 questioned the issues with River Park Elementary due to the traffic flow for school pickup. N. Trivedi <br /> 68 stated he can get an answer to the concern. The carline is outside the scope of this project but can be <br /> 69 corrected as the school would have to work with NCDOT to correct the issues. Outboard will provide <br /> 70 notice that the board is aware of the issues and work with the consultant to get clear narrative to get the <br /> 71 issues resolved. N.Trivedi explained schools are aware of the Federal requirements for the Safe Routes <br /> 72 to School program and they have their own approaches. They were involved in the planning process. <br /> 73 There were concerns brought up as to when the research/field visit was completed- what was the <br /> 74 weather,time, etc. <br /> 75 Infrastructure in North Carolina is challenging, with towns having more opportunities than Counties. <br /> 76 Rural areas require more local and federal commitment towards improving such infrastructure. Plans <br /> 77 like this and others help establish local support so that other funding opportunities could be made <br /> 78 available like SPOT,Transit Tax and other transportation related sources.
