OUTBOARD ORIENTATION <br /> June 5, 2025 <br /> TRANSPORTATION AUTHORIZATION BILL <br /> Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act <br /> " Overview <br /> The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act represents a historic $550 billion in new federal investment across <br /> transportation, clean energy, water systems, internet, and climate resilience. The legislation aims to: <br /> • Grow the economy, <br /> • Create —2 million jobs per year, and <br /> • Promote sustainability, equity, and resilience over the next decade. <br /> It complements the Build Back Better Agenda and reinforces the administration's goal to deliver results for working <br /> families and ensure America remains competitive globally. <br /> Ek Transportation and Infrastructure <br /> Roads, Bridges, and Major Projects ($110B) <br /> • Repairs 173,000 miles of roads and 45,000 bridges. <br /> • Includes $40B for bridge repairs — the largest such investment since the interstate system. <br /> • $16B supports major transformative projects. <br /> • Emphasizes climate resilience, safety, and equity for cyclists and pedestrians. <br /> Safety ($11 B) <br /> • Funds a $513 Safe Streets for All program. <br /> • Doubles funding for transportation safety including highways, trucks, pipelines, and hazardous materials. <br /> Public Transit & Rail <br /> Public Transit ($89.9B total) <br /> • $39B new investment plus ongoing funding over 5 years. <br /> • Modernizes buses, rail, and stations; increases accessibility. <br /> • Invests in clean, zero-emission vehicles and workforce training. <br /> • Benefits communities of color who disproportionately rely on transit. <br /> Passenger & Freight Rail ($66B) <br /> • Largest rail investment since Amtrak's creation. <br /> 46 <br />
