ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENTri
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT OmMeComt
vue ucrxnnsr y
COUNTY TRANSPORTATION MULTIMODAL PLAN ALIGNMENT
Key Goals& Objectives:
• Protect the natural environment and reduce GHG emissions.
• Promote safety and health through multimodal options.
• Enhance economic opportunity by aligning transportation with land use.
• Provide a secure, efficient, and equitable transportation network.
SAFETY
Complete Streets Review:
• No existing or proposed Complete Streets projects in the vicinity.
• No public infrastructure will be directly affected due to the private road.
• Potential for future MOD transit need should be monitored.
Vision Zero Review:
• No reported fatal or serious injury crashes nearby(5-year review).
• No mitigation needed, but ongoing monitoring is encouraged.
ECONOMY
• The number of jobs created by the home-based office is undetermined.
• No employment data available within a %-mile radius.
• The site is not within a designated Economic Development District.
ACCESS& EQUITY
Mode Split Estimates:
• 100%Vehicle: All trips by personal vehicles.
• 0%Transit/Bike/Pedestrian/Freight: No current infrastructure to support these modes.
First/Last Mile Connectivity:
• Closest transit access is—Y2 mile away on Jones Ferry Road.
• No sidewalks, bike lanes, or bus stops in the area.
• No bike racks are proposed on-site.
CONCLUSION
The proposed 594 sq. ft. home-based office will have minimal impact on existing transportation infrastructure.
Given the absence of nearby multimodal facilities, all site access will remain automobile-dependent. No concerns
related to safety, environmental justice,or equity have been identified. While future transit needs could arise, the
current application aligns with the County's transportation goals but does not influence project prioritization.
Recommendation:
The applicant should ensure that access on Uwharie Ridge Road remains adequate to support County transit
operations.
