1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: August 26, 2025 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-g <br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of Electric Vehicles for the Asset Management Services Department, <br /> Planning & Inspections Department, Department of Social Services, and <br /> Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks & Recreation <br /> DEPARTMENT: Fleet Services <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Vehicle Quotes Robert Williams, 919-918-4904 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve and authorize Orange County Fleet Services to purchase two (2) Nissan <br /> Leaf Electric Vehicles (EVs), two (2) Chevy Silverado 1500 EV trucks, and two (2) Ford MachE <br /> EVs. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange County's Asset Management Services Department, Planning & <br /> Inspections Department, Department of Social Services, and the Department of Environment, <br /> Agriculture, Parks and Recreation are replacing vehicles that have surpassed their useful life. <br /> Increased maintenance costs are substantial. The purchase prices for all items are set through <br /> a cooperative purchasing agreement by the Sheriff's Association, which is a service cooperative. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total financial impact for all vehicles is $287,588: <br /> $ 78,480 for the purchase of two (2) Nissan Leaf EVs, <br /> $127,538 for the purchase of two (2) Chevy Silverado 1500 EV trucks, and <br /> $ 81,570 for the purchase of two (2) Ford MachE EVs. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GOAL 1: ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CLIMATE ACTION <br /> OBJECTIVE 2. Invest in our infrastructure to reduce the environmental impact of the <br /> County fleet/facilities and improve safety. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize Fleet Services to <br /> purchase two (2) Nissan Leaf EVs, two (2) Chevy Silverado 1500 EV trucks, and two (2) Ford <br /> MachE EVs. <br />
