Employees who elect to make such reservations shall not be reimbursed. <br /> 4. Meals and Incidental Expenses <br /> Employee meals and incidental expenses while on travel status within the continental U.S. are in <br /> accordance with the federal per diem rates published by the General Services Administration. <br /> Incidental expenses include tips to maids, hotel staff, and shuttle drivers and other minor travel <br /> expenses. Per diem rates are available at www.gsa.gov/perdiem. <br /> Per diem for Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. protectorates and international destinations are provided <br /> separately by the Department of State and will be determined as required. <br /> A. Overnight Travel <br /> For each full day of travel, all three meals are reimbursable. Per diems on the first and last day of a <br /> trip are governed as set forth below. <br /> Departure Day <br /> Depart before 12:00 noon Lunch and dinner <br /> Depart after 12:00 noon Dinner <br /> Return Day <br /> Return before 12:00 noon Breakfast <br /> Return between 12:00 noon & 7:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch <br /> Return after 7:00 p.m.* Breakfast, lunch and dinner <br /> *7:00 p.m. is defined as direct travel time and does not include time taken to stop for dinner. <br /> The reimbursement rates for individual meals are calculated as a percentage of the full day per diem <br /> as follows: <br /> Breakfast 15% <br /> Lunch 25% <br /> Dinner 60% <br /> B. Same Day Travel <br /> Employees traveling at least 100 miles to a site and returning in the same day are eligible to claim <br /> lunch on an expense report.
