He said he was going to remain consistent. <br /> 20 Chair Bedford said it is indirect. <br /> 21 Commissioner Portie-Ascott said they all value education, and another one of their <br /> 22 priorities is housing for all. She said she would not support the amendment. <br /> 23 Commissioner Greene asked if there is an alternative to the proposal. <br /> 24 Chair Bedford said there might be. <br /> 25 Commissioner Carter said she greatly appreciates her colleagues' advocacy for the <br /> 26 schools, and she shares the passion. She said this change will result in a $30 increase on a <br /> 27 $400,000 home. She said this negates the$70 savings that theyjust approved in the other budget <br /> 28 amendments. She said they have received emails from people saying they would happily pay a <br /> 29 tax increase for the schools. She said that there are also people that they do not hear from.
