100 <br /> Q. What data formats, compression formats, and media should be used to <br /> preserve the data? <br /> A. Archiving practices should be consistent with North Carolina Geographic Information <br /> Coordinating Council (GICC) approved standards and recommendations. (Examples: Content <br /> Standards for Metadata; Data Sharing Recommendations). Consult the GICC website at <br /> https://it.nc.gov/about/boards-commissions/gicc. <br /> You should also comply with guidelines and standards issued by the State Archives of North <br /> Carolina,which are available on its website. <br /> Q. Who should be responsible for creation and long-term storage of <br /> archived data? <br /> A. The creating agency, NCOneMap, and the State Archives of North Carolina may all have <br /> responsibility for archiving data. If you choose to upload your data to NCOneMap, consult with <br /> your county's GIS department to determine whether data will be uploaded by your agency or <br /> by the whole county. If you choose not to upload your data to NCOneMap,your agency must <br /> comply with standards (for metadata,file naming, data sharing, and long term preservation) <br /> and procedures adopted by the North Carolina Geographic Information Coordinating Council. <br /> A-14 <br />
