<br />AQUATICS DEPARTMENT <br />STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES <br />Swim Instructor Manual <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />C. Clocking In & Clocking Out: <br /> <br />• Swim Instructors are expected to arrive and clock-in 15 minutes before the start of their first <br />group lesson to set-up their class area and make sure their roster attendance and progress <br />tracker sheets are up to date. <br />• Instructors are given up to 15 minutes of paid time after their last group lesson ends to clean <br />up their class areas and make sure all paperwork is completed correctly. <br />• Additional time can be given before or after group lessons with Lessons Director approval. <br /> <br />D. Substitute Policy: <br />If a Swim Instructor is unable to work an assigned class, they should follow the below steps… <br />• Contact the Lessons Director to inform them you need a sub. <br />• Use the Swim Lessons – GroupMe Chate to contact other staff to see if they can sub. <br />• Once someone has agreed to cover the class, give their name to the Lessons Director <br />• If no one is available, inform the Lessons Director and they will determine the next steps. <br />If you agree to cover a class, it becomes your responsibility. If you become unable to cover the shift <br />after agreeing to sub, it is your responsibility to find coverage, not the original instructor. <br /> <br />5. PRIVATE SWIM LESSON POLICIES & PROCEDURES: <br />A. Private Lessons Assignments: <br />When a private lesson registration has been received by the Lessons Director, it will be assigned to a <br />Swim Instructor based on how their availability matches with the potential clients and their ability to <br />take on additional clients. <br />B. Beginning Private Lessons: <br />Once a Swim Instructor has been assigned a private lesson client, it is their responsibility to contact the <br />instructor to schedule their lessons and to ensure that the client has paid for their selected package <br />before the first lesson. The instructor MUST verify payment asking the client to GIVE them a <br />copy of the purchase receipt. (The front desk can provide this as well or ask the Lessons <br />Director to verify their payment in DaySmart prior to the start of the first lesson) <br />C. Record Keeping: <br />Swim Instructors are expected to keep each registration sheet in their notebook and ensure they are <br />recording the following information on the client’s lesson tracker for each lesson… <br />• The time and date of each lesson. <br />• The skills that were taught each lesson. <br />• Have the client or designated parent/guardian sign before the beginning on each lesson. <br />DO NOT initial in the ‘Director Initials’ column.
