JOB OBJECTIVES <br />Swim Instructors at the Orange County Sportsplex are expected to uphold the highest standards of safety and <br />quality for all swim lesson participants by committing to achieve the following standards: <br />A. Commitment to Safety: <br />Swim Instructors are expected to uphold the Aquatics Department’s commitment to safety by following <br />all swim lesson safety procedures… <br />• NEVER turn your back to participants (you should always have eyes on all participants) <br />• Ensure participants follow all general pool rules. <br />• When using the dock, ensure all participants… <br />i. Keep both feet on the dock. <br />ii. Keep their heads above water. <br />iii. Keep at least one hand on the dock rail. <br />• Use the 3-Strike Method to enforce rules… <br />i. Verbal Warning #1 <br />ii. Verbal Warning #2 <br />iii. Sit-Out (no more than 5 minutes) <br />iv. If the behavior continues to occur, remove them from the class <br /> <br />B. Commitment to Professionalism: <br />Swim Instructors are expected to maintain all department and facility standards of professionalism... <br />• Treat all members, guests, and participants with kindness and respect. <br />• Ensure all job specific tasks are completed on time and accurately. <br />• Avoid behaviors or language that are inappropriate or do not reflect the values of the <br />department and facility. <br />• Follow Swim Instructor Dress Code… <br />i. All Swim Instructors should wear a well-fitting swimsuit that does not unnecessarily <br />restrict their ability to move in the water. <br />ii. Men should wear designated swim shirt and board shorts. <br />iii.
