Clocking In & Out: <br />Lifeguards are allowed to clock-in up to 5 minutes before their shift and clock-out up to 15 minutes <br />after their shift in order to complete the daily chemical, cleaning/equipment checklist, and allowing a <br />fellow guard who will remain on duty after you to take a break. Additional time may be allowed with <br />Aquatics Management’s approval. <br />B. Monthly Availability: <br />Lifeguards are expected to provide Aquatics Management with their availability for the upcoming month <br />by the 15th of the current month. Aquatics Management will make every effort to post next month’s <br />schedule for review by the 24th of the current month. Once posted, the staff will have 48 hours to <br />review the schedule for errors. After the review period, the schedule will become official. <br />C. Substitute Policy: <br />If a Lifeguard cannot work a scheduled shift, it is their responsibility to find a sub to cover their shift by <br />following the below steps… <br />• Contact the Aquatics Management to inform them you need a sub <br />• Use the Aquatics Department GroupMe Chat to contact other staff to see if they can sub <br />• Once someone has agreed to cover a shift, give their name to Aquatics Management and put it <br />into Sling for approval. <br />• If no one is available, inform the Aquatics Management and they will determine next steps <br />*If you agree to take a shift from someone else, it becomes your responsibility. If you become <br />unable to cover the shift, it is your responsibility to find coverage using the above steps. * <br />D. Time-Off & Absence Policy: <br />All time-off requests must be given to the Aquatics Director in a timely manner (for the upcoming <br />month, by the 15th or the month – see “Item B. Monthly Availability” under Part 6 Scheduling Policies.) <br />Any unexpected or uncommunicated absences from assigned shifts, regardless of reason, will result in <br />disciplinary action. Every effort will be made to accommodate time-off requests due to unexpected <br />illness or emergency if communicated in a timely manner. <br />Staff are required to be available to work Memorial Day Weekend, Independence Day Weekend, and <br />Labor Day Weekend during the summer season. Those who need to request time off on these <br />weekends must do so in writing a minimum of 4 weeks in advance.
