Orange County Arts Commission <br /> October 14, 2024 <br /> Minutes <br /> Attendees: Crystal Wu, Chair, Linda Williamson, Sec, Wendy Smith, Denise Duffy, Vice chair, <br /> Gideon Young, Krista Bremmer, Lindsay Metivier, Katie Murray, Renee Hayes, Josh Rosenstein, <br /> and Heather Washburn. <br /> Absent: Cellia Gibbs, Saba Jordan, John Claude Bemis, & Alexa Velez <br /> Meeting Location: The Eno Arts Mill <br /> 1. Call to Order at 6:34pm by Crystal. <br /> 2. Welcomed Renee Hayes to the board. <br /> 3. Wendy moved to approve the August 2024 Board Minutes and Denise seconded. All <br /> approved. <br /> 4. Director's Report: Katie reported on the following items: <br /> a. Paint it Orange - went so well this year. We had talented artists (92 adults and 44 <br /> youths) who submitted excellent works. We raised $16,000 in donations and <br /> sold 51 paintings on opening (22 opening night last year) <br /> b. Jeep Raffle — launched Oct 4th and runs through December 19th. We must sell <br /> 1200 for the raffle to happen with a max of 2500 to be sold. Katie is asking all of <br /> us on the Board to promote the raffle and to review the FAQ on the website. <br /> c. December Mutal Aide Silent Auction proposal —event to assist the artists in <br /> Western NC. Hold a silent auction for donated work to raise money. Also, ask <br /> "Orange County connected" artists to share work for sale at no commission. <br /> Denise mentioned that MusicMaker has a fund to help musicians in the western. <br /> Lindsey said Peale is doing a fund raiser also and she is asking the artists to give <br /> some % of their commission. Wendy said Art Center is doing a raffle during their <br /> Elf Market asking folks to buy 2 raffles—one each. The Board discussed how the <br /> county could support the organizations that are doing separate initiatives. <br /> Having a silent action with the gallery December show could drive more business <br /> for the artists with the show. Input on various options. The Board discussed that <br /> organizations here need to be able to support their mission at the same time as <br /> when they are helping the hard-hit areas. <br /> d. The presentation to the commissioners, combined with our "Creative Economy" <br /> data presentation from the AEP6 survey, will take place Tuesday. October 15, <br />
