Staff for the Arts and Cultural award program is currently <br /> in the process of reviewing the 11 applicants. <br /> c. UNC—Crystal updated that UNC is on their wellness break currently. She reviewed <br /> numerous cultural events coming up on campus including, "PAST FORWARD: NATIVE <br /> AMERICAN ART FROM GILCREASE MUSEUM" at the Ackland, Christian McBride, Faye <br /> Driscoll and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater all this month at Carolina Performing <br /> Arts. PlayMakers is showing "Fat Ham". <br /> d. Hillsborough Arts Councils—John announced that HAC has a new Executive Director <br /> Heather Tatreau,who we are all very excited for. The Solstice walk was another big <br /> event for HAC, earning$14,000.John encouraged all of us to go their fund-raising event <br /> on March 23, which was a great event last year.See website for tickets/details. <br /> e. The ArtsCenter—Wendy said 2nd Friday Art Walk was a big success. The gallery show is <br /> great, and they have an Afro futurism show going on.The ArtsCenter Gala is coming up <br /> March 16th at the Hall River Ball room—live auction and silent auction online. Wendy <br /> encouraged us all to attend or participate in the online silent action. Arts camp is up and <br /> running for registration. Winter Art school is going well. <br /> f. Carrboro Arts—Wendy reported the town is working on an outdoor art inventory and <br /> reviewing their arts internship program that runs in the summer. <br /> g. Visitor's Bureau—Katie reported that Laurie Paolicelli hosted an event at Carolina Inn to <br /> discuss the Visitor's Bureau survey data results. Across the board community felt that <br /> Tourism is doing a good job and has value across our area. Arts and Culture were ranked <br /> high.An interesting area of need was more festivals and events. County is wrapping up <br /> the strategic plan and Katie has been making sure the arts are included everywhere in <br /> the report. <br /> h. Orange County Artists Guild— Katie reported that the guild will only accept 10 to 12 new <br /> artists from the new applicants. <br /> 6. Crystal ended the meeting at 7:40pm <br />
