Orange County Arts Commission <br /> Oct 9, 2023 Minutes <br /> Attendees: John Claude Bemis, Lindsay Metivier, Fred Joiner, Saba Jordan, Linda Williamson, <br /> Sec, Crystal Wu, Vice Chair, Marc Miller, Katie Murray, Anita Mills, Pres, Gideon Young, Sadie <br /> Allen, Denise Duffy, and Jennifer Shultz Thomas,Josh Rosenstein <br /> Absent: Krista Bremer <br /> Meeting Location: Peel Gallery, Chapel Hill NC <br /> 1. Call to Order at 6:35pm by Crystal Wu. <br /> 2. Lindsay moved that Sept 2023 Board Minutes be approved and Marc seconded. All approved. <br /> 3. Board updates <br /> a. 2024 Officer Slate <br /> i. Katie recommended same slate of officers for 2024 and all current officers <br /> agreed to continue serving. <br /> ii. Fred made a motion to accept the proposed slate of officers and Denise <br /> seconded the motion. All Approved <br /> b. Katie asked if she could hold a board orientation re-do before Nov meeting. <br /> i. Yes, all agreed that orientation would be before the 11/13 meeting. <br /> c. Board vacancy—we have one opening. We are supposed to maintain a board <br /> composition that matches the community, which would be about 30% people of color. <br /> Katie has two folks that would be a good fit. We need to identify more folks that could <br /> serve in the future. Board agrees that Katie should reach out to the two folks, and if <br /> either are interested and apply, Katie would let us know via email. <br /> d. December Holiday party—12/11/2023 at Anita's House—regular meeting time <br /> 4. Director's Report <br /> a. Events <br /> i. Paint it Orange& Raffle fundraiser. <br /> 1. Very successful event. Great fund raising this year which had 70 <br /> painters. Sold 44 paintings on first night and 5 more the next. Event has <br /> grown so much in the past few years. <br /> 2. Have a raffle tied to Paint it Orange --$1000 gift certificate at William <br /> Travis Jewelry. $10 raffle tickets are available and only 1000 will be sold. <br /> 3. Paint it Orange Show goes through November this year supplemented <br /> with NC Claywork Guild show in November. <br /> ii. Uproar wrap up <br /> 1. Surveys have gone out to artists and sponsors. Results should be back <br /> by Monday 10/16. <br /> 2. On the 26th of October, Katie will be hosting a lunch debrief. Board <br /> members are invited. Please let Katie know if you are attending and <br /> haven't told her. <br /> iii. Important Dates: <br /> 1. Wed, October 11, 7-9pm Weave &Spin featuring Fred! <br />
