Orange County Arts Commission <br /> August 8 2022 Meeting Minutes <br /> Attendees: <br /> Fred Joiner, Chair, Anita Mills, Vice Chair, Saba Jordan, Linda Williamson, Sec., Sean <br /> Bailey, John Bemis, Sarah Shore, Marlon Torres (left for Grant Award portion), Crystal <br /> Wu, and Katie Murray <br /> 1) Meeting called to order by Fred Joiner at 6:40pm <br /> 2) Approval of July 2022 Board Minutes <br /> Motion: Sarah and Seconded: Marlon <br /> All approved. <br /> 3) Board member updates Katie Murray <br /> a) Resignation of Justin Haslett — notified Katie via email after last meeting. <br /> b) Current "Board Needs" discussion — Need liaisons for Chapel Hill Arts <br /> Commission and Carrboro Arts. Katie reached out to Josh Rosenstein about <br /> joining the OCAC board. Josh is on the CH Arts Commission already so fills a <br /> need. Josh submitted his applicable for the Board through the County portal. <br /> Brad Porter also notified Katie that he will be resigning from the Board due to <br /> time commitments. Katie will meet with Brad to understand his timing. <br /> Additionally, Katie reviewed current representation on the Board and discussed <br /> goals for increased representation. <br /> Marlon made a motion that we accept Josh Rosenstein application as an Orange <br /> County Advisory Board member. Seconded by: Linda <br /> All approved <br /> 4) Director's Report Katie Murray <br /> a) Paint it Orange Event is in the sixth year. We will have a "Paint it Orange <br /> Harvest Moon Party" on Wednesday, October 5t" at Ramble Mill Farm. Look for <br /> the sponsorship documents Katie sent to the Board via email. If we have any <br /> contacts with applicable businesses, please reach out to them. <br /> b) Eno Mill Update -- <br /> a) Two small studios and one large coming available soon — would really <br /> like some diversity of artists — younger, men, artist of color, etc. <br /> ii) Camps — In the last week of camp. For summer 2022, we had 78 kids <br /> with 2 scholarship recipients (15%). <br /> c) Piedmont Laureate — open now and genre is poetry. Information session will <br /> be soon. <br />
