ORANGE COUNTY BOARI2 OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AMATEUR RADIO WEEK <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina has more than 21,000 licensed Amateur Radio <br />operators who have demonstrated their value in public assistance by providing emergency radio <br />communications; and <br />WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators donate these services free of charge to the <br />residents of North Carolina and the world; and <br />WHEREAS, these Amateur Radio operators are on alert for any emergency, local or world- <br />wide, and practice their communication skills during the Field Day exercise of the American Radio <br />Relay League, Inc.; and <br />WHEREAS, this year's Amateur Radio Field Day will take place .June 26-27, 2004; and <br />WFIEREAS, Michael F. Easley, Governor of North Carolina, has proclaimed the week of June <br />20-27, 2004, as Amateur Radio Weelc in North Carolina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the <br />week of June 20-27, 2004, as "Amateur Radio Week" in Orange County, North Carolina, in honor <br />and recognition of Orange County Radio Amateurs and the important contribution they make to <br />the safety and well being of Orange County residents. <br />Adopted this 8th day of June 2004 <br />Barry Jacobs, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
