<br />13 <br />We asked strategic partner Economic Leadership to join our team for this project. Our firms have worked <br />collaboratively on strategic plans for Golden LEAF, NC Southeast, Small Business & Technology Development <br />Center, and other organizations. Ted Abernathy and Skylar Casey will data analysis. <br /> <br />Economic Leadership has extensive experience in strategic planning for governments, chambers of commerce, <br />arts organizations, foundations, workforce development agencies, and other public and private organizations. <br /> <br />Ted Abernathy serves as the Managing Partner of Economic Leadership, LLC, based in <br />Shallotte, NC. Ted is the principal author of close to 100 reports on future trends, <br />strategy, economic and workforce development, technology, and leadership, and he <br />speaks on the economy almost every week. He currently serves as an economic advisor <br />to the National Association of State Chambers and previously held a similar position with <br />the Southern Governor’s Association. In his 42 -year career, Ted has led city, county, and <br />regional economic development organizations and an economic policy think tank. Born <br />in Dallas, North Carolina, Ted received his bachelor’s degree from the University of <br />North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and his master’s from Johns Hopkins University, is a graduate of the Economic <br />Development Institute and is an Eisenhower Fellow for global economics. <br /> <br />Skylar Casey has been working with Economic Leadership since 2014, specializing in <br />data collection and analysis, stakeholder interviews, and economic impact analysis. This <br />research has included state tech sector evaluations, workplace safety reports, supply <br />chain analyses, sustainability reviews, regional cluster assessments, and workforce <br />strategic plans. He has worked with a range of clients including private industry, <br />chambers of commerce, non-profits, and economic development groups. Prior to joining <br />Economic Leadership, Skylar worked for RTI International as an Associate Economist in <br />the Environmental, Technology, and Energy Economics group.
