Commissioner Walker expressed interest in the portion of said petition which runs from Reid <br />Roberts's to St. Mary's Road. The Clerk was instructed to write the State Highway Commission stating <br />the interest of the Board in said petition and requesting information concerning the status of said <br />road. <br />The Register of Deeds discussed with the Board a request from Dr. 0. David Garvin, District <br />Health Officer, said request being that the Register of Deeds appoint a member of Dr. Garvin's <br />staff as a Deputy Register of Deeds for the purpose of issuing death certificates as a matter of <br />public convenience. <br />The Board authorized the Register of Deeds, if she so desired, to apoint a member of Dr. <br />Garvin's Staff as a Deputy Register of Deeds for the purpose of issuing death certificates, with <br />the revenue from said certificates to be turned over to the Register of Deeds office. <br />Paul Seibel, Community Services Consultant, presented to the Board a program entitled "Work <br />Experience Program." This program, if accepted, would be instituted by the Welfare Department. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commisdoner Walker, and unanimously adopted, Mr. <br />Seibel was authorised to forward said proposed "Work Experience Program"to the proper agency. <br />James Wight, Welfare Director, presented the following Blind Aid Grants, which were approved: <br />AID TO THE BIXND AGENDA <br />August 2, 1965 <br /> Eff. <br />Name Date Amount <br /> Rejection <br />Maude Days <br /> Revision <br />Emma S. Bennett, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners <br />August 30, 1965 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, August 30, 1965, <br />at 8:00 o'clock P..M., in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsborough, N. C. <br />Members present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, Commissioners Henry S. Walker, William C. Ray, <br />and Carl M. Smith. <br />Member absent: Commissioner Gordon B. Cleveland. <br />It was moved, seconded and passed that a permit be issued to the University of North Carolina <br />at Chapel Hill for a fireworks display to be held on the evening of September 30, 1965, at Emerson <br />Field in Chapel Hill. The Clerk was instructed to write W. F. Little, Chairman of the Department of <br />Chemistry at the University and advise him of this action. <br />The balance of the everting was devvted to a discussion of a proposed ordinance to establish a <br />Planning Board for Orange County. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. <br />Harvey D.
