He said that as projects get <br /> closer, they can look to see if anything can be pushed out farther. He said a 10-year plan is <br /> meant to capture expected costs so the county can plan. <br /> Chair Bedford said if it can be moved two years, that could save $2-$3 million dollars <br /> and those could be saved for other emergency needs and it would make a difference in debt <br /> service, as well. <br /> Commissioner Fowler asked what the recommended frequency is for full electrical <br /> redoes. <br /> Angel Barnes said she would look into it. <br /> Commissioner McKee said you do not want to wait for things to get bad or for buildings <br /> to collapse because the county delayed necessary improvements. He said that he does not <br /> want to continue the mindset of everything is fine and we can keep doing as they have been <br /> doing. <br /> Commissioner Carter asked if there are any operational savings from the upgrades. <br /> Travis Myren said they are representing a general decline in the rate of increase based <br /> on the energy efficiency. <br /> Chair Bedford said that would have to do with LED lights but not necessary the <br /> transformers and wires. <br /> Commissioner Fowler said the lifespan is 20-30 years and she would like to know where <br /> they are in that. <br /> Chair Bedford said it would be good to have an inspection. <br /> Alan Dorman said West Campus was built in 2009 and he said they built a lot of <br /> buildings between 2007-2009. <br /> Commissioner Fowler said it looks like we are using the 20-year rather than the 20-30- <br /> year plan. <br /> Slide #13 <br />
