50 <br /> There was interest expressed in having an Advocacy Committee. Cait Fenhagen and Crista Collazo <br /> volunteered to serve on this committee with Cait serving as chair. Ideas for advocacy were discussed. <br /> Judge Broun suggested holding a Legislative Breakfast or Town Hall Meeting to advocate for JCPC. <br /> New Member Orientation/Refresher—The consultant gave a new member orientation/refresher for current <br /> members presentation. <br /> Program Updates <br /> Dispute Settlement Center—During the month of June they received 1 referral from DJJ, and he was a <br /> Black/African American male. They had a total of 11 admissions for the fiscal year. Accounting shows <br /> that they will need to return approximately $3600.00 to JCPC due to less travel and staffing change. <br /> During the month of July, they received a total of 3 referrals, all of which came from DJJ. They were all <br /> males (1 white, 1 Hispanic/White, 2 ages 14-16, 1 age 17+). All programming is face to face and there <br /> have been no issues other than usual challenges of getting in contact with guardians. Frances Henderson <br /> is retiring. Valoree Hanson will be the next Executive Director as of September 1St. They are working on <br /> staff restructuring to ensure no disruptions in program management and fiscal management. <br /> The Exchange Club—They started the month of July with 9 cases and received 0 referrals. They had a <br /> total of 16 admissions for the fiscal year. The agency was able to use over 97% of their budget this year <br /> despite some months of the second PTS Group Facilitator salary lapse. Charity and Taylor hold the <br /> groups face to face at their in-kind space at the church. Taylor continues to do in person home visits for <br /> her counseling for her current 5 families that are on her caseload. Taylor is serving her current 5 families <br /> that are on her caseload and clients are making much needed progress. She has 3 additional families she is <br /> trying to engage while she finishes up with other families on her caseload. They are looking to secure a <br /> site to start their first ASAT group. They are also in the process of trying to hire their ASAT Counselor. <br /> Reintegration Support Network—For the month of July, they began with 5 cases and received 1 referral. <br /> The referral was a Black/African American male age 10-13. He was referred due to mental health <br /> challenges. RSN is in the final stages of transitioning its Participant Program Manager to a Program <br /> Manager position, consolidating the responsibilities for both participant engagement and the mentor <br /> program into one staff function. <br /> Volunteers for Youth—Teen Court received 1 referral in July. The referral came from DJJ and was for a <br /> Hispanic/Black male. They are having challenges with getting referrals in. They have been working on it <br /> by meeting with referral agencies and meeting with other diversion programs to see if they can assist. For <br /> Community Service & Restitution, they received 3 referrals for the month of July. These referrals came <br /> from DJJ and were all males (1 Black/African American, 1 White, and 1 Hispanic/White). The referral <br /> reasons were as follows: possession of stolen firearm/carrying a concealed weapon,possession of a <br /> handgun by a minor, and discharge firearm within enclosure to incite fear. They can work more directly <br /> with youth since due to low case numbers and have gotten to know them better individually. There are 2 <br /> young men who they have worked closely worked with for the last 6 months and they call on their own <br /> and share life updates. <br /> Wrenn House—The have received one referral/admission in July. The referral was from DSS for a <br /> Black/African American male due to a disrupted placement. Services at Wrenn House continue to be <br /> offered face-to-face. Life skills topics have included health/fitness, employment readiness, and emotional <br /> regulation. There was one unsatisfactory discharge from Wrenn House (runaway) and one successful <br /> discharge for Orange County youth in the month of July. Haven House Services will be participating in 3 <br /> community events in the month of August to increase outreach and awareness. <br />
