ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 8, 2004 <br />Action Agend <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Contract Renewal for Pharmacy Services for Health Department <br />DEPARTMENT: Health PUBLIC HEARING: (Y!N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Contract <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Rosemary Summers, ext 2411 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider approving the contract renewal for pharmacy services for the Health <br />Department. <br />BACKGROUND: For the past four years, the Health Department has contracted with an <br />individual pharmacist to provide pharmacy services for the department, This will be the third <br />year of contracting with the same pharmacist, The contract for FY 2004-2005 includes a 2 %2% <br />increase over last year for a total of $10,540 per year or approximately $31 per hour for on-site <br />pharmacy services. Pharmacy services enabled the Health Department to provide clinical <br />services to over 5,000 patients seen in one of the department's clinical services, The <br />pharmacist has also assisted in recruiting and training volunteer pharmacists for emergency <br />responses. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract for FY 2004-2005 includes a 2 ''/2% increase over the <br />current year for a total of $10,540 per year or approximately $31 per hour for on-site pharmacy <br />services for approximately 334 hours of on-site pharmacy services.. The $10,540 is part of the <br />recommended Health Department budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contract <br />renewal and authorize the Chair to sign, pending the approval of the 2004-2005 budget and <br />county attorney review. <br />
