NORTH CAROLINA <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY, HEREINAFTER THE COUNTY; <br />AND THE TOWN OF CARRBORO, HEREINAFTER TFIE TOWN: FOR <br />EMERGENCY ANIMAL RESCUE SERVICES. <br />WHEREAS, the Aldermen of the Town do appropriate funds for the 2004-2005 fiscal year <br />for the performance of Emergency Animal Rescue Services (EARS) in Carrboro; and <br />WHEREAS, the County having assumed direct operation of the Orange County Animal <br />Shelter in 2004-2005 has the capability and a shared interest in continuing to offer this <br />service through agreement to the Town: <br />WITNE SSETH <br />The County and the Town hereby agree as follows: <br />The County's Emergency Animal Rescue Service, a function of the Orange County <br />Animal Shelter, will respond to emergency calls all hours that Carrboro Animal <br />Control is closed. <br />• All County Shelter employees responding to service calls under this agreement <br />will receive training pertaining to the Town's Animal Control Ordinance. <br />• The County agrees to provide an animal control vehicle and necessary animal control <br />equipment for the County's use in the Town in fulfillment of this agreement. <br />The County's assistance to the Town shall include Emergency Animal Rescue Services as <br />listed below: <br />Emergency Animal Rescue Service hours are from 6:00 p.m, to 9:00 a.m. Monday <br />through Friday and all holidays and week-ends. <br />• The County shall provide trained, qualified personnel to respond to calls for animal- <br />related emergency assistance within the Town by going to the scene when necessary <br />to protect and preserve the health and safety of the public and the life and health of <br />animals. <br />Qualified personnel of the County Shelter shall, when necessary and proper in the <br />,judgment of personnel, provide first aid treahnent and/or take animals requiring care <br />to veterinary facilities according to the Shelter's policy. When immediate veterinary <br />care is not needed in the,judgment of the Shelter personnel, an animal may he taken to <br />the Orange County Animal Shelter. Siclc and injured animals will be handled <br />according to the Orange County Animal Shelter operating policy. <br />
