He said over 700,000 <br /> individuals experience homelessness each night across the nation, and over 11,626 people were <br /> homeless in North Carolina during the 2024 Point-In-Time Count. He said unhoused individuals <br /> may use public transit for shelter from the elements and if people feel unsafe, they will stop using <br /> transit. He said GoTriangle modeled the Transit Ambassador Program after some of the agencies <br /> on the slide above that have developed a proactive approach to increasing and improving the <br /> safety of transit systems. <br />
