92
Date: February 26, 2025
To: Michael Scott, Director
Division of Waste Management
Through: Janet Macdonald
Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch
From: Katie C Tatum
Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch
Subject: SEPA Project# 25-0153 Orange County Planning & Inspections, Orange County, North Carolina
The Superfund Section has reviewed the proximity of sites under its jurisdiction to the Orange County
Planning & Inspections project. The proposed project is for the Carolina Friend's School Rezoning Application
for a Non-Residential Rezoning from Rural Buffer (RB) and Planned Development - Rural Buffer (PDHRB) to
Non-Residential Conditional District (NR-CD) of 110.456 acres at PINs 9892202052, 9892310306, 9892227326.
With this re-zoning, we will open an additional entrance on Mount Sinai Road, which is currently gated and
only open for use on rare occasions. This new entrance will help reduce traffic on Friends School Road by
essentially splitting the number of drivers between the two access points while also providing a second full
access drive for emergency services.
No (0) Superfund Section sites and no (0) Brownfields Program Sites were identified within one mile of
the project as shown on the attached report.
Please contact Janet Macdonald at 919.707.8349 if you have any questions concerning the
Superfund Section review portion of this SEPA/NEPA inquiry.
