2 <br /> Zieger Lane serves as the entrance to the subdivision off Rogers Road (SR 1729) and terminates <br /> in a stub out and intersection on the eastern end of the subdivision with Cattail Lane. Cattail Lane <br /> continues and intersects with Rusch Road (SR 1842), which also connects with Rogers Road (SR <br /> 1729). <br /> NCDOT has investigated this request and has submitted a petition to the BOCC for its <br /> recommendation (Attachment 4). North Carolina General Statutes §136-62 and §136-102.6 <br /> require that road petitions for additions to the State system be made by the governing body. <br /> Conclusion: The above-referenced application meets the criteria endorsed by the BOCC for <br /> recommending acceptance of public roads into the State Maintained System for roads approved <br /> through the governing jurisdiction's subdivision process (NCDOT Subdivision Roads Minimum <br /> Construction Standards, January 2010, revised July 2020). <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact to the County associated with this item. <br /> NCDOT will incur additional maintenance responsibilities and costs. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> GUIDING PRINCIPLE — STEWARDSHIP AND ADVOCACY <br /> We make proactive data supported decisions and advocate to local, state and Federal <br /> governments in response to our community's needs in a way that best utilizes our <br /> resources. <br /> GUIDING PRINCIPLE — PARTNERSHIP AND COLLABORATION <br /> We build meaningful relationships and connections that allow us to create holistic and <br /> integrated systems of support for all. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board: <br /> 1. Recommend the Department of Transportation accept the roads for maintenance as State <br /> Secondary Roads. <br />
