14
i. The OC Kart tracks can produce dust and aerosols from the racing surface,
especially during dry and windy conditions. These airborne particles contribute
to poor air quality and can negatively affect respiratory health. By converting
the race track into a storage facility, dust and aerosol emissions from racing
activities are significantly minimized. Proper dust control measures can be
implemented to further mitigate potential airborne particulate matter, leading
to cleaner air for the community.
In conclusion, the conversion of the Orange County race track into a storage facility brings substantial air
pollution benefits to the local community and the environment. By eliminating racing vehicle emissions,
reducing traffic-related pollution, mitigating dust and aerosols, and promoting sustainable practices, this
transformation significantly improves air quality and fosters a healthier living environment. This
conversion represents a proactive step towards environmental responsibility and showcases a
commitment to enhancing the well-being of the community and its surroundings.
3- Hazardous Waste and Materials
a. Hazardous Materials Elimination:
i. All race tracks handle various hazardous materials required for racing events,
such as fuels, lubricants, and chemicals used in vehicle maintenance and
cleaning. With the conversion into a storage facility, the need for these
hazardous materials is eliminated entirely. This eliminates the risk of accidental
spills or leaks, preventing potential contamination of soil and groundwater in
the vital watershed in which it is located.
b. Proper Waste Management:
i. The racetrack have generates various forms of waste, including waste from
concessions, maintenance, event-related materials and event spectators on
adjacent highways. As a storage facility, responsible waste management
practices can be implemented. Waste segregation, recycling initiatives, and
proper disposal methods can be enforced to minimize the environmental impact
and reduce the overall waste generated.
c. Environmental Compliance and Regulations:
i. The conversion allows the facility to adhere to strict environmental regulations
and standards related to hazardous materials and waste management. By way
of not allowing any hazardous chemicals to be stored within the facility. The
storage facility can ensure the safety of its employees, customers, and the
surrounding community, while also eliminating the potential liabilities
associated with hazardous waste interactions.
d. Reducing Risk of Contamination:
i. The OC Kart track is located in close proximity to natural habitats and water
bodies, most importantly a delicate watershed. By converting the race track into
a storage facility, the risk of hazardous materials or waste contaminating nearby
ecosystems and water sources is significantly reduced. This protective measure
benefits local wildlife and the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
e. Promoting Sustainability:
