8 <br /> 1 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 2 PROCLAMATION <br /> 3 COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH —APRIL 2025 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 WHEREAS,the nation's 3,069 counties serving more than 330 million Americans provide <br /> 6 essential services to create healthy, safe and vibrant communities; and <br /> 7 <br /> 8 WHEREAS, counties fulfill a vast range of responsibilities and deliver services that touch nearly <br /> 9 every aspect of our residents' lives; and <br /> 10 <br /> 11 WHEREAS, counties as intergovernmental partners enact local, state and federal programs to <br /> 12 address the needs of all residents; and <br /> 13 <br /> 14 WHEREAS, Orange County and all counties take pride in our responsibility to protect and <br /> 15 enhance the health, well-being and safety of our residents in efficient and cost-effective ways; <br /> 16 and <br /> 17 <br /> 18 WHEREAS, Orange County is guided by the objective that"Our Residents Come First" and with the <br /> 19 charge to treat all residents and all County employees with fairness, respect, and understanding; and <br /> 20 <br /> 21 WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has made tremendous investments in <br /> 22 public education, affordable housing, human services, economic development and public safety to <br /> 23 enhance the quality of life for all County residents; <br /> 24 <br /> 25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, <br /> 26 do hereby proclaim April 2025 as County Government Month and express our appreciation to the <br /> 27 County employees who make our community such a special place to live, work, play and raise a <br /> 28 family. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 This the 1st day of April, 2025. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Jamezetta Bedford, Chair <br /> 33 Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> 34 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Vice-Chair Hamilton, to <br /> 35 approve the proclamation. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Additional item for consideration: <br /> 40 Request from OWASA for Letters of Support for Federal Funding <br /> 41 Chair Bedford introduced the item. She said the Board had two letters for consideration to <br /> 42 send to Thom Tillis and Valerie Foushee regarding support of federal funding for projects <br /> 43 regarding PFAS and clear wells. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 A motion was made by Commissioner Fowler, seconded by Vice-Chair Hamilton, to <br /> 46 approve the letters be sent. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Vice-Chair Hamilton clarified that the Chair Bedford would sign the letters on behalf of the <br /> 51 Board. <br />
