4 <br /> 1 Vice-Chair Hamilton thanked everyone for sharing concerns about the revaluation. She <br /> 2 said they will look at the revenue neutral rate and the needs of the county. She said that they are <br /> 3 in an economic situation where people do not have a lot. She said they need to communicate <br /> 4 clearly what money is being spent upon. She said that as a Board, they do not determine when <br /> 5 or how a revaluation is performed. She said that the state sets the process. She said that homes <br /> 6 in her neighborhood have sold at much higher prices, and that is affecting the value of her home. <br /> 7 She encouraged everyone to review the county website and contact the Tax Office to get a better <br /> 8 understanding of the valuation. She thanked everyone for their comments, because the Board <br /> 9 will use these comments as they balance the budget. <br /> 10 Commissioner Carter thanked everyone for their comments. She said she is looking <br /> 11 forward to her first budget cycle as a commissioner. She said they had a good conversation with <br /> 12 the Town of Carrboro for areas of collaboration, and she said that is one example of innovation <br /> 13 as the county manages lower revenues and state and federal support. <br /> 14 Chair Bedford listed the upcoming revaluation information sessions that the Tax Office is <br /> 15 hosting. Volunteer Week Proclamation <br /> 19 The Board approved a proclamation declaring April 20-26, 2025, as "Volunteer Week" in Orange <br /> 20 County. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 BACKGROUND: National Volunteer Week was enacted in 1974 by President Richard Nixon to <br /> 23 celebrate the spirit of volunteerism and is recognized by states and local governments across the <br /> 24 country.
