14 <br /> Orange County Affordable Housing Advisory Board:The Orange County Affordable Housing <br /> Advisory Board (AHAB)was established in 2001, as recommended by the Affordable Housing Task <br /> Force.The purpose of the AHAB is to advise the Orange County Board of Commissioners regarding: <br /> • Prioritizing housing needs <br /> • Assessing project proposals <br /> • Publicizing the County's housing objectives <br /> • Monitoring the progress of local housing programs <br /> • Exploring new funding opportunities, and <br /> • Increasing the community's awareness of, understanding of, commitment to and <br /> involvement in producing attractive affordable housing <br /> Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition:The Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition <br /> (OCAHC) is an association of non-profit housing developers, service providers, advocacy groups, <br /> and local government partners working together to provide housing opportunities for all in Orange <br /> County, North Carolina. <br /> Other local/regional/state/federal planning efforts considered when preparing the Plan <br /> Plan analysis included Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro housing plans and related <br /> documentation. <br /> Describe cooperation and coordination with other public entities, including the State and any <br /> adjacent units of general local government, in the implementation of the Consolidated Plan <br /> (91.215(l)) <br /> The Orange County Housing and Community Development Department serves as the <br /> administrative agency for the HOME program,working closelywith other County departments as <br /> well as the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough. Similarly,the Town of Chapel Hill's <br /> Office of Housing and Community administers the Town's CDBG program.This office maintains <br /> strong coordination with various Town departments, including Economic Development, Public <br /> Works, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Sustainability, as well as the local Police and Fire <br /> Departments.This collaboration ensures a unified approach to addressing housing and community <br /> development needs across the region. <br /> Narrative <br /> The Orange County HOME Consortium represents a collaborative effort involving Orange County <br /> and the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough.This cooperative venture aims to address <br /> the shared housing needs and promote affordable housing development throughout the region.The <br /> Consortium fosters strong intergovernmental collaboration,with a positive and productive working <br /> relationship between the four jurisdictions.This partnership ensures that resources and strategies <br /> are aligned to maximize the impact of housing initiatives across the area. <br /> Additionally,the Consortium has built an excellent partnership with the local Continuum of Care <br /> (CoC), a network of organizations dedicated to addressing homelessness and housing instability. <br /> The relationship between the Consortium and CoC is based on mutual trust and a shared <br /> commitment to creating effective solutions for vulnerable populations.The strong relationship with <br /> 11 <br />
