58
NC STAR
'YNETWORK
Shifting Cultures,Saving Lives
February 10th, 2025
Dear Dr.Jaimes-Colina,
As a partner of Piedmont Health Services and a representative of programs that serve patients with Opioid Use
Disorder in Orange County, I am writing this letter to express my support for Piedmont Health Service Inc,'s
application to the Orange County High Impact Opioid Abatement Strategies funding.
The NC STAR Network connects community and academic partners across the state to expand equitable access
to life-saving treatment for substance use disorders. NC STAR provides clinical expertise as well as didactic
education to providers. One of the ways we plan to continue serving our community is through strengthening
our partnership with Piedmont Health Services, Inc, (PHS), an agency which offers impactful evidence-based
addiction treatment. PHS is NC STAR Network's oldest community partner and a vital collaborator in the
evolution of addiction care delivery.
By strategically partnering with an organization that is providing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder(MOUD)
as well as primary care, we can help people achieve goals of stability, health, and well-being.This partnership
has the potential to create a more streamlined, patient-centered approach to recovery and wellness.
I look forward to strengthening our collaboration with PHS in order to serve the needs of community members
with Opioid Use Disorder within Orange County. Please feel free to contact me at the email below if you require
any further information.
Sincerely,
H. Claire st, MD
Director, NC STAR Network
Associate Professor of Medicine
UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine
Claire—west@med.unc.edu
984-974-4462
Vorth Carolina Substance Treatment and Recovery Network
ncstarnetwork.org
