Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 07 54 00 -9 THERMOPLASTIC SINGLE PLY <br />ROOFING <br />B.Terminate membrane at penetrations as shown in the contract drawings. <br />1.Fasten membrane 6 inches on center or a minimum of 4 fasteners per <br />penetration into the structural deck using fasteners and plates as approved by <br />the membrane manufacturer for the deck substrate. <br />C.Extend membrane over roof edge a minimum of 2 inches below the perimeter wood <br />blocking. If fleeceback membrane is utilized,trim membrane flush with outside edge of <br />roof and hot-air weld a non fleeceback flashing membrane to extend over the roof edge. <br />D.Provide sealant tape at base of flashing membrane on outside of wall to prevent moisture <br />infiltration. <br />3.5 FLASHING INSTALLATION <br />A.General <br />1.Install flashings concurrently with the roof membrane as the job progresses. <br />2.Temporary flashings are not allowed. <br />3.Do not tape seams as temporary measure;hot-air weld seams before the end of <br />each day. <br />4.Adhere flashings to compatible,dry,smooth,and solvent-resistant surfaces. <br />5.Where substrates are incompatible with adhesives and PVC materials,remove <br />the incompatible materials and replace with a compatible substrate or install <br />compatible PVC flashing materials. <br />6.Use caution to ensure adhesive fumes are not drawn into the building. <br />B.Adhesive for Flashing Membrane <br />1.Over the properly installed and prepared flashing substrate,apply flashing <br />adhesive according to manufacturer's installation instructions. Apply adhesive in <br />smooth,even coats with no gaps,globs or similar inconsistencies. <br />2.Press the sheet firmly in place with a hand roller to ensure bond and adhesion. <br />3.Do not apply adhesive in seam areas that are to be welded. <br />C.Mechanically terminate flashings a minimum of 8 inches above the finished roofing <br />surface using specified method indicated in the Contract Drawings. <br />D.Cut and provide hot-air welded corner flashing at interior and exterior corners. <br />E.Hot-air weld flashings at their joints and at their connections with the roof membrane. <br />F.Provide additional securement for flashings that exceed 30 inches in height. Consult <br />Manufacturer's Technical Department for securement methods. <br />G.Seal off Polymer Clad sheet metal incorporated into the roofing system with a hot-air <br />welded stripping ply.
