Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 06 10 00 -4 ROUGH CARPENTRY <br />5.Engineers accepted equivalent. <br />C.Screws:No.10 or greater,stainless steel wood screws with flat head,or insulation <br />screws. Length to embed into base substrate a minimum of 1-1/2 inches. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br />A.Inspect substrates to receive rough carpentry,and ensure substrates are in satisfactory <br />condition prior to installation of rough carpentry. <br />B.Inspect rough carpentry including fasteners for material condition before proceeding with <br />installation. Replace deteriorated,rotted,damaged,split,warped,twisted or wet <br />materials. <br />C.Remove cants,tapered edge strips,debris,fasteners,etc.that interfere with the <br />installation of rough carpentry. <br />D.Notify Engineer in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. <br />E.Commencement of work signifies acceptance of substrates. Correct defects in work <br />resulting from accepted substrates at no additional expense to the Owner. <br />3.2 PREPARATION <br />A.Steel/Metal Substrates: <br />1.Coat steel and metal with a uniform,heavy application of asphalt primer,or <br />separate by membrane or other acceptable means to prevent contact between <br />steel/metal and treated wood products. <br />B.Roof Deck and Structure: <br />1.Adjust substrates to receive rough carpentry to ensure completed rough <br />carpentry installation is acceptable for roofing and sheet metal flashings. <br />2.Coat steel decking with a uniform,heavy application of asphalt primer,or <br />separate by membrane or other acceptable means to prevent contact between <br />steel and treated wood products. <br />a.Do not allow treated lumber to make direct contact with steel decking. <br />3.3 INSTALLATION <br />A.Replace damaged or deteriorated wood blocking,nailers,and curbs. <br />B.Re-secure wood nailers at roof edges that are to remain with fastener type and spacing <br />to comply with this section. <br />C.Install wood blocking,nailers,and curbs to achieve a minimum 8-inch flashing height <br />above the roof membrane. <br />D.Install wood nailers at perimeter roof edges and low-profile expansion joints to match <br />insulation height while maintaining a constant nailer height along perimeter edges. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: FA2D0569-6BCE-4E38-B3EE-9B3EFD09A753
