Orange County Solid Waste <br />Scalehouse Building 05 01 30 -4 STEEL ROOF DECK REPAIR <br />AND SECUREMENT <br />b.Deck sections (flanges and/or flutes)have been or can be readily <br />removed during examination or areas of decking are missing,24"or <br />greater in one dimension. <br />3.2 PREPARATION <br />A.Remove and vacuum debris from deck surface and ribs to allow for inspection of deck, <br />and to fasten decking. <br />B.Remove and properly dispose of damaged decking (Corrosion Degree Level 4)and <br />remove deck fasteners in the repair area. <br />C.Take necessary precautions to prevent debris from entering building space,and <br />coordinate operations with Engineer and Owner. <br />D.Provide temporary protection of building interior and contents to prevent damage. <br />3.3 STEEL DECK REMEDIATION <br />A.General: <br />1.Remove loose dirt,rust,moisture,grease or other contaminants from the surface <br />with a power wire brush. <br />2.Vacuum the roof deck surface clean. <br />B.Corrosion Degree 1: <br />1.Properly mix deck repair coating according to manufacturer's recommendations. <br />2.Do not mix more material than can be used in the materials expected pot life. <br />3.Apply material at temperatures from 50˚F to 90˚F for optimum application. <br />4.Brush or roller apply deck repair coating as recommended by manufacturer. <br />5.Allow coating to dry a minimum of 30 minutes. Do not install roof insulation until <br />coating is dry. <br />C.Corrosion Degree 2: <br />1.Properly mix deck repair coating according to manufacturer's recommendations. <br />2.Do not mix more material than can be used in the materials expected pot life. <br />3.Apply material at temperatures from 50˚F to 90˚F for optimum application. <br />4.Brush or roller apply deck repair coating as recommended by manufacturer. <br />5.Mechanically attach deck repair plate to deck ribs with deck to side lap fasteners <br />6 inches on center maximum or a minimum of 2 screws per side. <br />D.Corrosion Degree 3: <br />1.Properly mix deck repair coating according to manufacturer's recommendations. <br />Docusign Envelope ID: FA2D0569-6BCE-4E38-B3EE-9B3EFD09A753
